WEAVED WHEAT:
Wheat Weaving is an ancient craft going back thousands of years to when it was known that the spirits of the land lived in the wheatfields. The success of a harvest has always been critical to survival, so to preserve this spirit at harvest time and ensure the success of next years harvest, small wheat weavings were made in the shape of sacred symbols for the spirit to rest in during the winter. The custom of making harvest trophies, or tokens was quite widespread throughout Europe and continued on after the introduction of Christianity. Today the wheat is still weaved in decorative sacred symbols used to protect the home and bring happienss, peace and plenty.
Made of hand woven Canadian grown Durham and Blackbeard wheat, our wheat weavings will give your home an ancient decorative flair that will last for many years to come.
